Childrens Books By Amanda Nelson and Kimberly Tipton

Childrens Book Cover Forest Fran Girl in Forest Mental Health

About Forest Fran

Hilary is feeling lonely and lost, but a turn of events sends her right where she needs to be to feel safe and accepted!

This story is based on the life of one of the authors who grew up in a rural area and had to acclimate to a school where she didn’t understand her new peers’ way of life. Feeling different from others can cause anxiety, so learning how to accept new friends and learning calming coping skills is a great way to begin getting through those tough feelings.

Note for the parents: This book includes an activity sheet to use with your child to practice the coping skills learned on Fran’s journey. We’ve also included a tip sheet that describes some common signs of anxiety in children to watch for, and some things you can try as a parent to help your little one when they are experiencing these feelings.

This book is best used for:

  • children ages 6 – 12
  • children who show signs of worry or anxiety
  • children preparing to start the new school year
  • children learning coping skills
  • children who feel different than their peers
  • parents teaching coping skills
  • parents needing supportive ways to talk about anxiety
  • therapists and counselors in search of supportive material

Our books are never intended to replace therapy guidance from licensed professionals. If you are concerned that your child is experiencing worrying signs, we urge you to reach out to a provider for help.

Thank you so much for your support!
